While on a recent trip to Egypt, I knew I wanted to spend one night along the Nile River. When I was looking for a place to stay I noticed the St Regis had a rate that was within my budget. So of course I had to book it. The St Regis brand is known for delivering its signature butler and luxury amenities, and usually out of my travel budget. It was time to put the St Regis to the test. Here is my full St. Regis Cairo Review.

Location
If you’re looking to stay right on the Nile and be in the heart of all the action, The St. Regis Cairo has you covered. Not only is it a good location if you just want to hang out and relax, but there are also plenty of places to visit around. The Egyptian Museum, packed with ancient treasures (including the famous Tutankhamun artifacts), is just a short ride away. If the Pyramids are on your bucket list, you’re in luck – the Giza Plateau is about 30 minutes away.

The St. Regis Cairo is located 18 miles from the Cairo International Airport. The ride was just over 30 minutes door to door. The easiest way to get here is by using a rideshare app such as Uber. It cost me 400 EGP (~8 USD) to get from the hotel to the airport. Uber also has a convenient feature with pictures to show you how to get to the designated pick up spot at the airport.
Booking
The St. Regis brand is known for having an elevated guest experience, which usually means an elevated price as well. The St. Regis Cairo is probably one of the more affordable St. Regis hotels in the portfolio. After taxes and fees my single night stay here came out to $256.00. To me this was a steal considering it is normal to see other St. Regis stays go for over $1,000 a night.
Being a platinum Marriott Bonvoy member I was able to use one of my Nightly Upgrade Awards (NUA) to try to go from a standard room, to the St. Regis Suite. Of course, I wouldn’t know if this was actually accepted until much closer to my stay.
The St. Regis Cairo was very proactive and the concierge reached out about a week before my stay asking if there was anything additional I was requesting. This stay was going to be at the end of my trip to Egypt, so honestly my plan was just to relax and see a few museums so there was not much I needed.

Check In
I finished my day tour of the pyramids around 4:00 pm and decided that I would head to check in at the St. Regis Cairo. Upon my Uber driving pulling in, I was already blown away. The architecture of the building was just beautiful. There were plenty of bellmen to help with my luggage.
Check in was on the 6th floor and I was guided quickly to an associate who helped me get all settled in. It was great news to hear that I had indeed been upgraded to a St. Regis Suite that overlooked the Nile.
I was informed that my room was on the 13th floor and given a run down of all the activities that were occurring that evening. There was nothing major, but it was nice for them to inform me. The receptionist then led me to the elevator bay where he mentioned that my butler would be waiting for me once I arrived at my suite.
St. Regis Suite

When I had selected the St. Regis Suite, I didn’t realize how big it truly was. The suite is just about 1,800 square feet. Located just through the entrance there was a nice little welcome gift of chocolates and a card.
The suite is split into two main areas, the living area and then the bedroom. The living area has a nice large table, lounging area with a TV and a nice working area. The key feature though of the room, the floor to ceiling windows that give a spectacular view.

Down from the main hallway is a large bathroom that boasts a soaking tube and a rainfall shower. One of the issues I had throughout all of my trip to Egypt was water pressure in the shower seemed to be lacking. The St. Regis Cairo had a true rainfall shower with great pressure. I do have to admit, I did fall in love with the soaking tub as there is also a TV placed right next to it.
The bedroom at the end of the hallway also had gorgeous floor to ceiling windows. The bed was definitely that of a St. Regis caliber and I had no issues sleeping. There is also a small powder chair and mirror which is a nice touch for those who need it.

All rooms come with butler service, shortly after the butler rang my doorbell to offer freshly squeezed juices. He also asked if there was anything he could assist with. Another benefit of platinum status is that I was allowed to have two pieces of clothing pressed a day. I asked him to press a shirt since I was headed to dinner that night and he had it back in a flash.

Restaurants and Bars
At the St. Regis Cairo there are 5 restaurants and bars that you can experience. La Zisa is the main all day restaurant that has an Italian cuisine. It is also where breakfast is served in the morning. The breakfast buffet has a good spread of fresh fruit, pastries, an omelet station and even a juice bar. The only thing that was a bit odd was the layout, I feel if it was busy some of the tables are between two areas of the buffet and there would be a lot of foot traffic.
If you just want to relax by the pool there is Sirocco, which serves Mediterranean food. If you’re just looking for a nice drink or small bites The Water Garden right next to reception is the place to be. This is where the sabering also takes place daily at 5:00 pm. However, just a small note that they do not do it during Ramadan.
Additionally there is Tianma and J&G Steakhouse, which both require a reservation and are open for dinner. For dinner I went to J&G Steakhouse and it was delicious. I made reservations the day of arrival through my butler and had no issues getting a time slot. It honestly is a lot more affordable than that of something in Europe or the United States. I had a chicken breast, mac n cheese and a side of fries with a soda and the total came out to around $40.

Pool, Spa and Other Amenities
The St. Regis cairo has two pools to relax at, however they both are on the smaller side. The outdoor pool overlooks the Nile and is located next to Sirocco. Additionally, inside they also have an indoor pool. It was a bit chilly for me outside during my trip to Egypt, so while the pool is heated outdoors I opted for the indoor pool.
The gym was functional, but could have used a bit more space. It does have all the equipment for a good workout (weights, machines, cardio, etc.), but more than 5 people and I feel it would be a bit crowded.
Additionally the Iridium Spa is located at the St. Regis Cairo. The spa also boasts a range of exclusive treatments tailored to provide the ultimate in relaxation. This includes the signature rituals that incorporate elements of Egyptian culture, giving you a unique and immersive experience.
Final Thoughts
Even with its lower price point compared to other St. Regis around the world I would not hesitate to stay at the St. Regis Cairo again. The service was top notch, and the food was flavorsome. To me this was the perfect hotel to end my stay at during my trip to Egypt. I hope this St. Regis Cairo review helps you make your decision. If you have stayed here let me know your thoughts in the comments.
