While on a recent trip to Egypt, I knew I wanted to spend one night along the Nile River. When I was looking for a place to stay, I noticed the St. Regis had a rate within my budget, so of course I had to book it. The St. Regis brand is known for its signature butler service and luxury amenities, usually well outside my travel budget. It was time to put the St. Regis to the test. Here is my full St. Regis Cairo review.

Why I Booked The St. Regis Cairo
The St. Regis brand is known for its luxury properties and services that goes far above and beyond, but that usually comes with a hefty price tag. It is common to see price tags of over $1,000 a night to stay at a basic room at the St. Regis (I am looking at you St. Regis New York City). So to my surprise when I saw the St. Regis Cairo for $256/night on shoulder season in Egypt I knew I had to book it. If you are looking to book this property on points you can also find it for around 50,000 points per night.
As a Platinum Marriott Bonvoy member, I used one of my Nightly Upgrade Awards (NUA) to try to move from a standard room to the St. Regis Suite, though I wouldn’t know if it was accepted until closer to my stay.
The St. Regis Cairo was proactive: the concierge reached out about a week before my stay to ask if I needed anything. Since this was the end of my Egypt trip and I mostly wanted to relax and see a few museums, there wasn’t much I needed.
Location & Getting to The St. Regis Cairo
If you’re looking to stay right on the Nile and be in the heart of the action, The St. Regis Cairo has you covered. It’s a great base whether you want to relax or explore, with the Egyptian Museum a short ride away and the Giza Plateau about 30 minutes out if the Pyramids are on your bucket list.
The St. Regis Cairo is 18 miles from Cairo International Airport, and the ride took just over 30 minutes door to door. The easiest way here is a rideshare app like Uber; it cost me 400 EGP (about $8 USD) to get from the hotel back to the airport. Uber also shows photos of the designated pickup spot at the airport, which made things easy.
Check-In & First Impressions
I finished my day tour of the Pyramids around 4:00 PM and headed to check in. Pulling up by Uber, I was already blown away, the building’s architecture is just beautiful, and there were plenty of bellmen ready to help with luggage.
Check-in is on the 6th floor, and I was quickly guided to an associate who got me settled in. The great news: I had indeed been upgraded to a St. Regis Suite overlooking the Nile.
I was told my room was on the 13th floor and given a rundown of that evening’s activities. Nothing major was happening, but it was a nice touch to be informed. The receptionist then walked me to the elevator bay and mentioned that my butler would be waiting once I arrived at my suite.
The St. Regis Suite

When I selected the St. Regis Suite, I didn’t realize how big it truly was. Just past the entrance was a small welcome gift of chocolates and a card.
The suite splits into two main areas: the living area and the bedroom. The living area has a large table, a lounging area with a TV, and a nice workspace. The standout feature, though, is the floor-to-ceiling windows that give a spectacular view.
Down the main hallway is a large bathroom with a soaking tub and a rainfall shower. One issue throughout my Egypt trip was weak water pressure in the shower. The St. Regis Cairo had a true rainfall shower with great pressure. I did fall in love with the soaking tub, which even has a TV right next to it.
The bedroom, at the end of the hallway, also had gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows. The bed was definitely St. Regis caliber, and I had no issues sleeping. There’s also a small powder chair and mirror, a nice touch for those who need it.
All rooms come with butler service. Shortly after I arrived, the butler rang my doorbell to offer freshly squeezed juices and ask if he could help with anything. As a perk of Platinum status, I could also have two pieces of clothing pressed a day; I asked him to press a shirt for dinner that night, and he had it back in a flash.
Restaurants & Bars
The St. Regis Cairo has 5 restaurants and bars:
- La Zisa: the main all-day Italian restaurant, and where breakfast is served
- Sirocco: poolside, Mediterranean food
- The Water Garden: next to reception, drinks and small bites, and home to the daily sabering ritual
- Tianma and J&G Steakhouse: reservation-only dinner restaurant
Breakfast: Served at La Zisa, with a good spread of fresh fruit, pastries, an omelet station, and a juice bar. The one odd note: the layout puts some tables between two sections of the buffet, which could mean heavy foot traffic if the restaurant is busy.
If you want to relax by the pool, Sirocco serves Mediterranean food. For a drink or small bites, The Water Garden next to reception is the spot, and it’s where the sabering takes place daily at 5:00 PM. Note: it doesn’t happen during Ramadan.
Tianma and J&G Steakhouse both require reservations and are open for dinner. I chose J&G Steakhouse, and it was delicious. I booked through my butler the day of arrival with no issues getting a time slot. It’s a lot more affordable than a similar meal in Europe or the U.S.; I had chicken breast, mac and cheese, and a side of fries with a soda, and the total came to around $40.
Pools, Spa & Other Amenities
The St. Regis Cairo has two pools, though both are on the smaller side. The outdoor pool overlooks the Nile next to Sirocco, and there’s also an indoor pool. Since it was a bit chilly outside during my trip, I opted for the indoor pool despite the outdoor one being heated.
The gym was functional but could use more space. It has everything for a good workout, but more than 5 people and it would feel crowded.

Is The St. Regis Cairo Worth the Price?
At $256 after taxes and fees, this was an easy yes. Other St. Regis properties routinely run over $1,000 a night, so getting a suite-level experience with full butler service for a quarter of that felt like exceptional value. Dinner at J&G Steakhouse also underscored how much more affordable dining is here than at a comparable steakhouse in Europe or the U.S. If you are looking for something closer to the pyramids make sure to stay at the Marriott Mena House.
Final Thoughts: Would I Stay at The St. Regis Cairo Again?
Even with its lower price point compared to other St. Regis hotels around the world, I would not hesitate to stay at The St. Regis Cairo again. The service was top notch, and the food was flavorful. To me, this was the perfect hotel to end my stay in Egypt.
